The shifter has been updated with new indexing, bearings, and shift mechanism to feel smoother, easier, and more efficient
The rear derailleur now features a new Shadow+ design with an optimized slant angle and better chain retention
The XT hydraulic disc brakes deliver fabled braking performance, with best in class modulation and power in any terrain or weather conditions
The XT M8000 cassette now goes up to an enormous 40T cog, which gives you a much easier gear for those big climbs
That means that your 1x system no longer has to sacrifice a climbing gear
But Shimano didn't just stick a big cog on the back of a 10-speed cassette
They carefully selected the cogs with their new Rhythm Step progression to ensure that the shifting feels balanced, smooth, and progressive, without any big or jarring jumps in the cassette
